Wells Fargo Unauthorized Account Settlement

If you have received a check from the Settlement, this page has information about your check. If you have questions about the Settlement in general, including questions about how payments under the Settlement are calculated, please see the Frequently Asked Questions page.

1. Why did I receive this check?

You received your check because you are entitled to payment under the class-action Settlement in a lawsuit titled Jabbari v. Wells Fargo & Co. For more about the Settlement and the lawsuit, please go to the Frequently Asked Questions page.

2. Can I deposit or cash this check?

Yes.

3. What if my name has changed and the name on the check isn’t correct anymore?

If you need to change the name on the settlement payment because of a life event, such as a marriage or divorce, please mail the Settlement Administrator a copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree, or a copy of your driver’s license along with a written explanation and request to change the name on your check. Please mail the information and documents to the following address:

SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR - 5666

PO BOX 2594

FARIBAULT, MN 55021-9594

4. What if the person on the check has died?

If you need to change the name on the settlement payment because the name of the person on the check (the payee) is deceased, please provide a written request including your name and current address, the deceased person’s name and address, a photocopy of the death certificate, and an explanation of your relationship to the deceased person along with documentation you may have (for example, a Small Estate Affidavit or Probate Registered Court document) supporting your authority to act on behalf of the deceased. Please mail the information and documents to the following address:

SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR - 5666

PO BOX 2594

FARIBAULT, MN 55021-9594

5. How long is the check good for?

The check is good for 180 days after the date printed on the check. After 180 days, the check is void.

6. What should I do if I’ve lost my check or if the 180-day period for cashing or depositing the check has gone by?

Contact the Settlement Administrator at 1-866-431-8549 or you may write to:

SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR - 5666

PO BOX 2594

FARIBAULT, MN 55021-9594

7. What happens if I don’t cash or deposit my check?

Although a final and irrevocable decision about what will happen to unclaimed funds has not yet been made, unclaimed funds will likely be transferred (“escheated”) to the states in accordance with state laws governing unclaimed property. Under this scenario, the following will occur:

  • The Settlement Administrator will retain possession of your funds for the period that is required by the law of your last-known state (i.e., the place of your last-known address). This required period of time varies from state to state. During this period, you may contact the Settlement Administrator to ask that your check be reissued (see question 6 above).
  • After this period ends, the funds will be transmitted (“escheated”) to the state of your last-known address. When money is escheated to a state, it typically goes to the state department or agency that is responsible for unclaimed property. Once the funds are escheated to a state, the Settlement Administrator will no longer have possession of them, and you will need to contact the relevant state agency for more information.

Finally, you should be aware that even if you do not cash or deposit your check, you are still bound by the Settlement of this class action.
